On 14 April 2010 a devastating earthquake struck Yushu County in Tibet, killing over 2,500 people and destroying the majority of buildings, including the 12th century Thrangu Tashi Choling Monastery.

Lama Wangyal and Stuart Tett immediately initiated a fundraising project and after much hard work and kind support Thrangu House managed to raise and donate over £80,000 to help with reconstruction efforts.
